A playgroup has been running at Southwell and now needs new families to run sessions. The school principal reported that parents who have previously been part of the Southwell playgroup found they could be part of a range of activities not available at home. Parents engaged their children with other people to try new things, broaden their social network, meet other parents with children in the same age group.

Principal, Ms Elizabeth Melville said that playgroup is about letting the child lead their own learning. Each child has their own approach to developing their social skills. At playgroup children develop their social skills at their own pace. At this time social boundaries are learned and this is a very important lesson for all of us before we get to school.
